Design Patterns

For wood as a material.

The design pattern is a powerful concept from the world of software. Such a pattern guides the overall design of a project without specifically dictating anything. It could be thought of as a 'problem-solving approach' or an amalgamation of rules of thumb.

I've found that the concept of a design pattern makes more sense by example rather than definition. See my notes and explorations below.

CNC

Click-Together Fabrication
Leveraging the CNC for primarily 2D cuts which mate together mechanically.
Oops-All-Tenon
Or 'tenonless' design. Uses CNC to cut many mortises and 'tenons' made of roundover beams.

Plywood

Biscuit Box
Using biscuits to align box-like structures such as cabinets, drawers, etc.
